Questions on potty training

I am very new to the Yorkie world. My daughter is thinking about getting a yorkie, so I have been researching and talking to people about them and their behaviors.

My question is...CAN A YORKIE BE POTTY TRAINED TO DO IT'S BUSINESS OUTSIDE??? This is a very hot issue in the house right now. I do not like animals that have to toilet in the house. I WOULD TEACH MY KIDS TO GO OUTSIDE, if it meant I didn't have to clean the bathroom. We have 2 cats and I HATE dealing with the litter pan. The last thing I want is to have another animal that has to toilet in the house. To me it is a DEAL BREAKER!

I have heard so many people say that their yorkies have a potty station in the house. AAAHHHHH!
